How Jerry Met The Walrus

Me likes alot! Cool grassroots interview, even better screen animation :) In 1969 (nope… I wasn’t born at that time), the then 14-yo Jerry Levitan sneaked into John Lennon’s hotel room with a tape recorder at hand. The result was a really cool and raw live-on-tape interview. Now, add screen effects and 40 years:

He’s just that good…

Once more great performance by EA in promoting their new Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09. They created a viral video in response to a infamous fan video on Googtube discovering a glitch in the gameplay of PGA 08 called “The Jesus Shot” (original here):

I think this is just an amazing reaction by EA proving once more that they are very close to their user base. Great job! :)

Gone ’til November? Just wait ’til September…

(Think music theme here) Ikea Germany and Nordpol just launched a new campaign micosite for those who wait. Wait? Yes, wait. For all those who are looking forward to Ikea’s new catalogue, Nils (so his name) gets a Big Brother-style 24/7 camera treatment:

Exciting, isn’t it? And there is exciting interaction, of course. Viewers can decide which games to play this evening (I voted “Monopoly” btw) and likewise exciting stuff. Well, well… roughly 4 more exciting days. *Irony off*

Name that magazine… ?

Maybe it’s just me and my dirty mind, but what the hell??? I came up with buttock, buttcrack, buttrock, yeah… and the f-word was well. More here :D

I cannot help it, but this reminds me of another great great blooper. Sorry in advance… ;) *lol*

Here comes Photosynth!

Many of you may have probably seen the cool cool cool presentation by Blaise Aguera y Arcas on TED last year (see video below). As of tonight, Micosoft Photosynth went out of beta! For those who ignored it so far: it’s an app (and browser plugin) that puts regular pictures into a virtual 3D-style panorama:

I know… hard to describe, so give it a try! It’s very visually rewarding, I can tell yer. So, is this big? Probably not. But it may definitely change the way we’re gonna take our holiday photos in the future. Make sure to pack a large enough memory stick for your next trip to the Grand Canyon… ;)

If Facebook is just not enough…

… why not showing your cleavage on a huge billboard? The recent Wonderbra outdoor campaign raised some eyebrows in the UK. It depicted happy Wonderbra customers (just women as far as I can see) in nothing but their merchandise.

The trick: all the little pics form a trumanshow’esque mosaic of - you guessed it - another cleavage. Not very new, but definitely woohooo! :)

Banner of the Day

Nicely executed campaign by Citroen and Euro RSCG. The idea is not too shabby either, but the screenwork is a lot better. What can I say: I like that visually challanging stuff… :)

Trigger Happy Nokia TV

Nokia and EA pulled up a new UK microsite for the launch of FIFA 08 on their N-Gange platform (yes mom, mobile gaming that is). The trick: They used hidden cameras to capture the reaction of passers-by on alleged fanatic gamers inside a subway train:

The next 5000 days…

Wired Mag’s Kevin Kelly held another great talk at the 2007 EG conference: the Internet is roughly 5,000 days old. So what about the next 5,000 days? He identidfies three major trends: Embodiment, Re-Structuring, and Co-Dependency. Watch the video below to find out more…

Another great talk over at TED (hi res video available there)! I will share more of my favorite ones, promised :)

Putting the FUN in functional

I found this one while cleaning out my mailbox at work. A bit older, but still up-to-date: It’s a very nice presentation by Amy Jo Kim on how game tactics and mechanisms can help your serious application to become more fun :)
