Putting the FUN in functional

I found this one while cleaning out my mailbox at work. A bit older, but still up-to-date: It’s a very nice presentation by Amy Jo Kim on how game tactics and mechanisms can help your serious application to become more fun :)

Doing so, she idenfies 5 key priciples of games:

  1. Collecting
  2. Points
  3. Feedback
  4. Exchanges
  5. Customization

… that are and then examines how websites such as Myspace follow those. Very nice and timeless insights IMHO. Definitely one to read!
